About Trace Ellington

by Carmen Jones

Mood Indigo Recordings was established in 1984 in Oakland California. It was the launching pad for many of the independent artists from the Bay Area such as Digital Underground, Too Short, Dangerous Dame, Father Dom and others.  Trace Ellington is the backbone of Mood Indigo Recordings.  With his diverse experience and talents in many music genres, he developed many different artists in the Oakland/San Francisco Bay Area, Chicago and Los Angeles.  Even though he has worked with many platinum artists like Crucial Conflict, Tupac, Lucy Pearl, High Diamond ,Jamie Foxx, Filo Blanco, Aaron Carter, Blues Traveler and many more, he believes music continues to recycle itself.  As technology continues to advance, the human soul stays the same.

Trace is looking to help and develop real talent again much like Motown did, but not limited to songs.  He has expanded to film, media and advertising. “These days artists and ventures have to brand themselves.” says Trace.

Mood Indigo Recordings’ mission is to empower artists from everywhere to invest in themselves and get with the right people, have the right songs, mixes and videos to make a ripple in the large lake of digital recording sales.  Mood Indigo is a one-stop facility to get your music recorded,  mixed, mastered or produced.

Mood Indigo Media is another side of the business which is a video, film and TV division where you can get all your media needs taken care of. “Once you’ve have had the Mood Indigo experience you will feel and sound like the true artist you are!” confirms Trace.
